Yas Bay Arena, a multipurpose venue in Abu Dhabi, currently being developed by Miral on Yas Island, has won the Sustainable Building Design of the Year award at the prestigious Mena Green Building Awards 2018.

Yas Bay Arena is an integral part of Yas Bay’s waterfront destination, which is part of an upcoming 14-million-sq-ft mixed-use area on the southern end of Yas Island.

Yas Bay Arena is uniquely designed to incorporate both sustainable and cultural features.  The Arena’s distinctive design strategy to incorporate shading features that provide adequate daylight whilst insulating heat will assist in reducing the energy consumption of the building.

The sustainability of the building has been achieved by integrating energy and water efficient building systems and architectural treatments which lead to a 22.4 per cent saving in energy and 28 per cent saving in water. Choosing the right building material, appliances and water fixtures within the design and construction are key elements that will contribute to the efficiency to Yas Bay Arena.

“We are very proud of the recognition of the design of Yas Bay Arena as the most Sustainable Building of the Year.  This is testimony of Miral’s commitment to creating and building projects that are globally recognised as sustainable and environment-friendly projects.” said B R Kiran, chief portfolio officer at Miral.
