Prysmian showcases latest products for submarine telecom industry

Prysmian Group, a global leader in the energy and telecom cable systems industry, is showcasing its latest range of products and solutions for the submarine telecom industry at the ongoing “Submarine Networks World 2019”, being held in Singapore.

Prysmian Group, a global leader in the energy and telecom cable systems industry, is showcasing its latest range of products and solutions for the submarine telecom industry at the ongoing “Submarine Networks World 2019”, the 22nd annual gathering of global subsea communications leaders, being held in Singapore.

The three-day event will conclude on September 18, at the Suntec Convention & Exhibition Centre.

Ashutosh Bhargava, head of submarine telecom BU, Prysmian Group, said: “The event is one of the key industry events that give us the opportunity to showcase Prysmian’s developments in innovative products and cost-effective turn-key solutions for the submarine telecommunication cable industry.”

“After the merger with General Cable, the group returns to the strategic submarine telecom business with the group’s dedicated division NSW, which has an enviable expertise in developing and producing repeaterless and repeatered fibre optic submarine cable systems, in order to meet the sector’s growing demand and our customers’ fast-changing needs,” he added.

Prysmian Group has recently been awarded a contract with Gtd Teleductos, a Chilean telecom operator, to develop a turn-key repeaterless submarine cable system connecting Arica to Puerto Montt in Chile.

The project involves the design, supply and installation of more than 3,550 km of repeaterless fibre optic submarine cables. Prysmian will supply 11 cable segments of a length ranging from 135 km to more than 400 km.

The cables will be produced at Prysmian’s state-of–the-art production facility in Nordenham, Germany. Delivery of cables is planned by December 2019. The project envisages a repeaterless festoon system that will provide telecommunication connectivity to the whole country, in addition to linking Chile to Central and North America.

The group’s product range on display at the exhibition will include the NSW MINISUB 0.6 cable family, a rugged, compact fibre-optic submarine repeatered cable system with unique features, such as a high count of 32 powerful ITU-T G.654.D fibres, low conductor resistance of 0.6 ?/km, installation in water depths up to 8,000 m and extraordinary operating voltage of 15 kV DC.

Furthermore, integrating Prysmian Group’s OGPs with NSW within a single Business Unit (Surf) enables the Group to strengthen its position as a one-stop-shop solution provider of Oil & Gas platform connectivity systems, generating significant synergies for the two industries.

The Subsea Telecom industry serving Oil & Gas customers will also strongly benefit from the group’s state-of-the-art offshore cables and accessories, which include the most innovative, high-quality and cost-effective riser cables and other hybrid composite cables, available on the market on a turn-key basis. – TradeArabia News Service
