In line with its efforts to integrate innovation into its digital transformation strategy, to promote the growth of technology sector, Ajman Free Zone has organised a series of initiatives and events to celebrate ‘UAE Innovates 2021’.
The annual national event seeks to promote the culture of innovation and increase community engagement towards designing and developing plans for the UAE as it enters a new era of excellence and prepares for the next 50 years.
Eng. Ali Abdulla Bin Towaih AlSuwaidi, Director General of Ajman Free Zone, explained that the UAE Innovates 2021 was an important event to showcase the vision of the UAE’s wise leadership and promote innovation as an established culture. He reiterated that AFZ remains committed to integrating innovation in the free zone’s management approach, considering innovation and creativity as the foundation to further growth.
He further noted that by tapping the talents and skills of young nationals, the country can develop the most advanced technologies in line with its preparation for the next 50 years and become a global leader by 2071.
AlSuwaidi added: “The UAE Innovates 2021 initiatives were important interactive platforms to encourage the exchange of innovative ideas, enrich knowledge and spread best practices to prepare for the future we want. Innovation is a top priority for us to keep pace with global changes and to enhance competitiveness, flexibility, and to ensure the continuity and sustainability of the national economy.”
The events organised by Ajman Free Zone included the ‘Innovation Forum’, which was attended by Sheikh Ahmed bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Chairman of Ajman Free Zone, and showcased the innovations of the local business community, along with multiple innovative applications in various fields.
Ajman Free Zone also launched a robot called ‘Ghaith’ which has been designed to provide support and guidance to customers and visitors. The robot was named Sheikh Ahmed.
Apart from that, the Ajman Free Zone held several interactive sessions, the most prominent of which included ‘Design Thinking in Services Development’; ‘Employing Innovation Skills in Anticipating Future’; ‘Innovation in Crises’; and the interactive panel discussion ‘How Innovation is Shaping the Future of Free Zones’ which saw participation from experts from the World Free Zones Organization and Potential.com.
In addition to a panel discussion titled, ‘Corporate Innovation’ in cooperation with Lloyd's Register, a discussion was also held in cooperation with the Holistic Enterprise, targeting CEOs and entrepreneurs.
Furthermore, in cooperation with Ajman Municipality and Planning Department and as part of the UAE Innovates 2021 events, the robot Ghaith received visitors at the heritage neighbourhood in Ajman and provided an overview of the Ajman Free Zone.
Ajman Free Zone also launched the ‘Innovative Ideas Challenge’ aimed at encouraging its employees, investors, and companies to come up with new creative ideas that would enhance and shape the future of investments.
