Saudi to issue, renew residency permits every three months


Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Interior has begun issuing and renewing residence permits (Iqama) for the expats living in the kingdom on a quarterly basis; every three months as a minimum, with the exception of domestic workers, said a report.

The Ministry of Interior, represented by the General Directorate of Passports and the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development has begun implementing this service in cooperation with the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Athority (SDAIA), represented by the National Information Center.
 
The new mechanism will enable the employer to renew residence permits, work permits, and the financial compensation for varying periods of three, six, nine as well as 12 months.
 
The General Directorate of Passports stated that this service will be available through the platforms of Absher Business and Muqeem.
 
The Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development clarified that this service can be used, with regard to work permits, through Qiwa Platform and the electronic portal for labour services.
