Energy investment 'key to supporting other sectors in Bahrain'


Bahrain's Deputy King, HRH Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, yesterday emphasised the importance of investing in the energy sector to support other economic sectors as he met with Vitol Group Chief Executive Officer Russell Hardy.

Bahrain's Deputy King, His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, yesterday emphasised the importance of investing in the energy sector to support other economic sectors as he met with the Group Chief Executive Officer of Vitol, Russell Hardy, at Riffa Palace.
 
His Royal Highness said this was in line with the Kingdom's goals of comprehensive development, led by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.
 
HRH Prince Salman stressed on the importance of further strengthening investments in the oil and gas sector to meet future demands, in line with Bahrain's Economic Vision 2030, said a Bahrain News Agency report.
 
He highlighted the Kingdom’s efforts to further develop the renewable energy sector, by adopting innovative solutions and initiatives that preserve the environment, in line with the sustainable development goals.
 
The latest regional and international developments in the energy sector were also discussed.
 
The Representative of His Majesty the King for Humanitarian Work and Youth Affairs, and Chairman of the Oil and Gas Holding Company (Nogaholding), Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa; Finance and National Economy Minister Shaikh Salman bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, and Oil and Environment Minister Dr Mohammed bin Mubarak bin Daina also attended the meeting.
 
Meanwhile, Shaikh Nasser noted the keenness of Nogaholding on boosting investment in the key sectors in concordance with Bahrain Economic Vision 2030 during separate meeting with Vitol Chief Executive Russell Hardy. The meeting was attended by Dr Daina and Bahrain Petroleum Company (Bapco) Chief Executive Dr Abdulrahman Jawahery.
 
Shaikh Nasser stressed on the importance of exchanging experiences, promoting cooperation and boosting investment in the oil and gas sector. He highlighted the ongoing developments in this vital sector in Bahrain and discussed with Hardy ways of boosting cooperation in the field, BNA said.
