BASSAM AL THUNAYAN
Operation, Planning and Coordination (OPC) engineer with FAST Consortium

17 MARCH 2018: As an Operation, Planning and Coordination (OPC) engineer with FAST, Bassam Al Thunayan is responsible for managing construction of the transit systems works including power supply, signalling and low voltage, platform screen doors, depot equipment and rolling stock.

“My role will end when the trains are operating,” he states. “Until then, I’m responsible for ensuring the timely availability of all materials, plant, equipment, tools and resources during the preparation period, during installation and after testing & commissioning, right up until final handover to the ADA [Arriyadh Development Authority],” he explains.

“I also ensure that all systems installation tasks are carried out with minimal interference between several trades, and I work as a focal point to ensure the full co-operation and non-conflict of interest between the three FAST sub-entities (TSY, CJV and TJV). I also represent TSY management to resolve any external pending issues or blocking points.”

Al Thunayan joined FAST as a Utilities and Traffic Diversion engineer, then as Elevated stations engineer in the Civil Joint Venture (CJV). Since then, he has been delivering positive outcomes for the Transit Systems JV (TSY).

“The work of the three entities (TSY, CJV and TJV) must be co-ordinated so that they fall into an agreed sequence of work,” he explains.
